Back in November, I had the chance to visit a restaurant whose Instagram had me drooling. Yoong is a fusion restaurant with pho and fried rice as its bases. Two of my friends and I each ordered a different pho dish and none of us were disappointed. The bowls were big, filled high with soup and there was a ton of noodles and vegetables. I could barely finish mine. I tried my best because I didn’t want the experience to end.
I had gotten the spicy beef one and the only problem I had with it was the shrimp. I didn’t read anywhere on the menu that shrimp was part of the dish (I might have missed it), but I had no issue with picking them out of the soup.
Even though the pho looks similar to what you would get at a traditional pho restaurant, don’t expect it to taste like what you are used to. If you are wanting legit pho, this may not be the restaurant to go to. But if you are wanting a pho-like soup that still tastes amazing and won’t leave you hungry, then by all means, check out this restaurant and the other things on their menu! The prices aren’t bad either. The chef, Lee Yoong, seems to have his own signature taste and style to his dishes that I admire.
I regret not taking pictures of the restaurant to show you the interior, but I, for one, am excited to go back and try more of their dishes. Especially one of the fried rice options. If you are in Seoul or will be traveling to Seoul, stop by for lunch or dinner! Follow chef Lee Yoong on Instagram and see what the restaurant has to offer. I promise you that you will get hungry scrolling through.
